What is Apixaban used for?

Due to the fact that Apixaban comes from a class of inhibiting blood clots. Eliquis is used to prevent stroke in people with a condition called atrial fibrillation- a state where there are too many electrical signals which causes heart beat more rapidly than normal. You are required to take 5mg Eliquis medicine twice daily. That is, in the morning and in the evening.

Apixaban generic is also used to prescribe to patients who have undergone surgery of the hip or knee. The prescription of Eliquis (generic Apixaban) is usually 2.5mg (twice daily) which should be taken within 12-24 hours after the surgery is done. NOTE in the case of hip surgery, medications should continue up to 38days while that of knee surgery, medication should only last for 14days.

What is Apixaban

Apixaban is a generic name of the drug, Eliquis (brand name). The drug Eliquis belongs to the class of XA factor inhibitors which is also referred to as blood thinners. Eliquis or Apixaban mode of action is to prevent some known factors forming a clot in the brain and other parts of the central nervous system.

Sources of Eliquis drug core are made from non-medicinal ingredients such as magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, and sodium lauryl sulfate.

Apixaban can also be administered to reduce or treat a blood clot which develops in the leg, a condition known as deep vein thrombosis and a pulmonary embolism-a blood clot in the lung.
